Welcome To The Religion Network!
I'm Lisa Bowman, editor of The Religion Network, a multi-faith Web site. This site provides inspirational quotes through an
exploration of a new spiritual theme every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Religion network is offered with the
conviction that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and furthermore, that finding the commonalities
among the world's religions is more healing than pointing up their differences.

Religion as an institution is a precious gift, blessing individuals and uplifting communities. However you choose to
worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.

Dear Readers,

I've known I wanted to talk about "Truth" for a while, but it's been a bit of wrestling match. We're all
familiar with the many aspects or attributes of truth: honesty, reality, authenticity, factuality, etc.,
but on this planet where we all live, truth is variable, even cultural. Sometimes what can be proven
with facts may not even hold up as actual truth! So other than living a "truth-ful" life that
expresses honesty and authenticity, how do we live the big "T" - the Truth?

Well, the flip side of variable human truth is the inviolate, eternal Truth that is God. It is only in Him
that we discover Truth which is absolute and unchanging. As God is Love, God is Truth and Truth is
God. So the more we communicate in prayer with He who is Absolute; the more often we stop to
listen for His whispers in our heart, the clearer we see Truth. This Truth is not something we do.
Divine Truth lives, and can be invited into the home that is our heart. Truth is the "I Am Who I Am,"
of the Bible. When we can say like Moses, that "I Am" sent us, we are living Truth, for "Truth Is."

Discovering and embracing just one eternal truth will fill your heart,
bring tears to your eyes, and eradicate the false beliefs in an instant.
How will you know it when you find it? "The sheep always know the
voice of the Shepherd!" More important, just like our mothers told us,
"The truth will set you free!" The truth will bring you back to the place
you started as a divine idea in the mind of God. The truth will free you
from the habitual fears the process of life can impose upon you ...
The truth allows you to just Be.

Excerpted from "One Day My Soul Just Opened Up,"

Then Jesus said...
"...And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

John 8:32
The Holy Bible
New King James Version

Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

Psalm 25:4-5
The Holy Bible
New King James Version

Truth is not something finished, but
something unfolding as life goes forward.

They who know the truth are not equal to those who love it,
and they who love it are not equal to those who delight in it.

Thomas said to him, "Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the
truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 14:5-6
New American Bible

God is not truthful but Truth itself, and wherever there is Truth,
there is God. There are many things that are relatively true at
certain times and places only, but God is absolute Truth at all
times and in all circumstances. As soon as we touch God,
who is the Absolute, relative things disappear.

From "Around the Year with Emmet Fox,"
HarperSanFrancisco, 1953

O praise the Lord, all ye nations; praise him, all ye people.
For his merciful kindness is great toward us;
and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever.
Praise ye the Lord.

Psalm 117:1-2
The Holy Bible
King James Version

The Last Word:

Truth comes as conqueror only to those who
have lost the art of receiving it as a friend.
