Sometimes -- especially when we are suffering --
the only thing we can do is approach the throne of grace,
as we have been invited, and kneel in silence before our God.
We may do so even when we can't put two words together in prayer.
The Bible promises mercy and grace in those times of distress. His favor
wraps around our shoulders like a warm blanket, and His Spirit prays for
us in words beyond our comprehension. Step into that throne room
right now, and experience intimacy with your God.

Joni Eareckson Tada (1949- )
Prolific Christian author; quadriplegic from a 1967 diving accident
Excerpted from "31 Days Toward Intimacy with God"

The Four Immeasurables

May all living beings have happiness and the causes of happiness;
May all living beings be free from misery and the causes of misery;
May all living beings never be separated from happiness, devoid of misery;
May all living beings abide in equanimity free from
prejudicial attachments and aversions.

The Buddha  (c. 563 BC - c. 483 BC)
Founder of Buddhism

Sing out, O barren one who has not given
birth; break into glad song and be jubilant,
you who have not been in birth travail...

Broaden the place of your tent and let the
curtains of your dwellings stretch out,
stint not; lengthen your cords and strengthen
your pegs. For you will burst out to the right
and to the left; your offspring will inherit
nations, and they will settle desolate cities.

Isaiah 54: 1-3
The Stone Edition Tanach
Mesorah Publications,2005

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show
up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait
and watch and work: You don't give up.

Popular American author

It matters not what be thy lot,

So Love doth guide;

For storm or shine, pure peace is thine,

Whate'er betide...

Aye, darkling sense, arise, go hence!

Our God is good.

False fears are foes — truth tatters those,

When understood.

Love looseth thee, and lifteth me,

Ayont hate's thrall:

There Life is light, and wisdom might,

And God is All.

Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910)
Founder of Christian Science

And now, the Last Word:

Let nothing trouble you;
Let nothing frighten you.
Everything passes;
God never changes.
Patience obtains all.
Whoever has God
Wants for nothing.
God alone is enough.

St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)
Spanish mystic, nun, monastic reformer

Bonus quote:

He did each single thing as if he did nothing else.

Charles Dickens (1812-1870)
Victorian English author
