If you desire an hour's happiness, take a nap.
If you desire a day's happiness, go fishing. If
you desire a month's happiness, get married.
If you desire a year's happiness, inherit a
fortune. If  you desire a lifetime's happiness,
help someone else.

This is Jack, our all-time favorite dog. When he died
suddenly at the end of June, it was devastating, and I
confess I'm still grieving. But his passing has made me
once again contemplate what wonderfully Divine gifts of
Love our pets are. I wish to devote a day or two to them.
Do you have photos of present or past pets that you'd
like to jpeg to me at:
All I need along with the jpeg is your name and the
name(s) of your pet(s). You are also invited to write a
spiritually-oriented piece about your pet for the Forum,
if you're so inclined.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and
the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives,
and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the
door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a
stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asks
for a fish? If you, then, who are wicked, know how to give good
gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father
give good things to those who ask him.

Matthew 7: 7-11
New American Bible
If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and
is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more
provide for you, O you of little faith? So do not worry and say,
'What are we to eat?' or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we
to wear?' All these thing the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father
knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom (of
God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given
you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take
care of itself.

Matthew 6: 30-34
New American Bible
Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you
concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.

1.    The Southeast Asia Prayer Council has brought together prayer leaders from 11 nations and they are meeting
right now in Indonesia. Many come from restricted access nations. Pray for an encouraging and empowering time
that will be used by the Lord to greatly strengthen the prayer movement in this region.

2.    Thousands of Egyptian believers are also meeting right now for their annual winter gathering for prayer and
fasting in the desert to pray for a huge harvest for Christ in their region. They want to build an altarin the heart of
Egypt (Isaiah 19:19) through such prayer efforts. May it be so as we join them in prayer from afar!

3.    Darfur and Iraq are two maelstroms of destruction and death that need a breakthrough for deliverance,
healing and transformation. Please keep these two situations in your prayers until there is a change for the better.

Thanks and blessings to you,
John Robb
International Prayer Council
The International Prayer Council is a Christian organization which "exists as a national
coalition of prayer networks and mobilizers. We work together to motivate, develop and
equip national movements and local churches with prayer for the fulfillment of the Great
The organization sends out  prayer requests which are global in nature. I asked John Robb
of the Council if I might post some of them. Won't you please join me in adding these needs
    to your prayerful intentions? --Lisa
Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose.

Unless you choose to do great
things with it, it makes no
difference how much you are
rewarded, or how much power
you have.

Oprah Winfrey
Simple love is the substance of all good living. Without love, you can neither begin nor
complete any good work. The essence of perfection is a good will directed toward God,
and an experience of pleasure in all that God does. All other pleasures, sensible or
spiritual, depend on the direction of your love.

My Joy--
My Hunger--
My Shelter--
My Friend--
My Food for the Journey--
 You are my breath,
    My hope,
       My companion,
          My craving,
            My abundant wealth.
               Without You--My Life, my Love--
I would never have wandered across these endless countries.
You have poured out so much grace for me,
Done so many favors, given me so many gifts--
I look everywhere for Your love--
Then suddenly I am filled with it.
        O Captain of my Heart,
Radiant Eye of Yearning in my breast,
I will never be free from You
As long as I live.
Be satisfied with me, Love
And I am satisfied.
