Sarah Young, Max Lucado, Melody Beattie, Book of Ezekiel

Dear Readers,

"For thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever."

These words, the "button" to the Lord's Prayer,
are the source of our greatest relief: we don't
have to be God. Whew, for a long while there
I thought I had to fix the world, run everyone's
life and receive great acclaim for doing it all.

We do that more frequently than we realize.
Observe yourself today and discover the
many ways we all try to be Mini-Me gods.

Let me anoint you with My Presence. I am King of kings
and Lord of lords, dwelling in unapproachable Light.
When you draw near to Me, I respond by coming closer
to you. As My Presence envelops you, you may feel over-
whelmed by My Power and Glory. This is a form of worship;
sensing your smallness in comparison to My Greatness.

Man has tended to make himself the measure of all things.
But man's measure is too tiny to comprehend My majestic
vastness. That is why most people do not see Me at all, even
though they live and move and have their being in Me.

There are certain mountains only God can climb. The names
of these mountains? You'll see them as you look from the
window of the chapel in the Great House of God. "Thine is
the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever."
A trio of peaks mantled by the clouds. Admire them,
applaud them, but don't climb them.

it's not that you're not welcome to try, it's just that
you aren't capable. The pronoun is thine, not mine;
thine is the kingdom, not mine is the kingdom. If the
word Savior is in your job description, it's because
you put it there...

You were not made to run a kingdom, nor are you
expected to be all-powerful. And you certainly can't
handle all the glory. Mount Applause is the most
seductive of the three peaks...More than one person
has stood at the top and shouted, "Mine is the glory!"
only to lose their balance and fall...

...As you confess that God is in charge, you admit
that you aren't. As you proclaim that God has
power, you admit that you don't. And as you give
God all the applause, there is none left to dizzy
your brain...

Today, I will ask God to show me
what God wants me to do for this day,
and then ask for help today for that.
I will trust that is sufficient
to take me into light and joy.

by Melody Beattie

The Last Word:

I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie
down, declares the Sovereign Lord. I will search
for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind
up the injured and strengthen the weak, but
the sleek and the strong I will destroy.

Ezekiel 34:15-16
