Book of Isaiah, Kay Arthur, Hannah Whitall Smith, E. Paul Hovey,
Henri Nouwen, Gloria Gaither, Book of Psalms

Dear Readers,

A child cries and a parent hurries to dry the tears and comfort
his or her beloved child. Sometimes a mother kisses a scraped
knee to "make it better." And it does, even though the knee is
still hurt. What's changed? Mom is present and demonstrated
an abiding love. And so the Lord does for His children, giving
us comfort by His presence and abiding Love, regardless
of the worldly circumstances swirling around us.

For thus says the Lord:

"Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,
And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream.
Then you shall feed;
On her sides shall you be carried,
And be dandled on her knees.
As one whom his mothers comforts,
So will I comfort you;
And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem."

Isaiah 66:12-14
The Holy Bible
New King James Version

Snuggle in God's arms. When you are hurting,
when you feel lonely, left out, let Him cradle
you, comfort you, reassure you of His
all-sufficient power and love.

Kay Arthur (1933 -   )
Christian author;
founder of Precept Ministries

In the secret of God's tabernacle no enemy can find us,
and no troubles can reach us. The pride of man and the
strife of tongues find no entrance into the pavilion of God.
The secret of his presence is a more secure refuge than a
thousand Gibraltars. I do not mean that no trials come.
They may come in abundance, but they cannot penetrate
into the sanctuary of the soul, and we may dwell in
perfect peace even in the midst of life's fiercest storms.

Hannah Whitall Smith (1832-1911)
American lay speaker and author

The word Comforter as applied to the Holy Spirit
needs to be translated by some vigorous term.
Litterally, it means with strength. Jesus promised
His followers that The Strengthener would be
with them forever. This promise is no lullaby
for the faint-hearted. It is a blood trans-
fusion for courageous living.

Retired Congregational Presbterian minister

In this crazy world, there's an enormous distinction between
good times and bad, between sorrow and joy. But in the eyes
of God, they're never separated. When there is pain, there is
healing. When there is mourning, there is dancing. Where
there is poverty, there is the kingdom.

Henri J. M. Nouwen
Dutch-born Catholic priest & author

God walks with us. He scoops us up in His arms
or simply sits with us in silent strength until we
cannot avoid the awesome recognition
that yes, even now, He is there.

Gloria Gaither (1942 -   )
Gospel music songwriter

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my
covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord,
who has compassion on you.

Isaiah 54: 10
New King James Version

The Last Word:

In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
         Your comforts delight my soul.

Psalm 94:19
The Holy BIble
New King James Version

Utterly Random Bonus Quote:

Most people wish to serve God,
but only in an advisory capacity.
