Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Langston Hughes (1902-1967)
American poet, novelist and playwright

____________

Nothing is too great and nothing is too small
to commit into the hands of the Lord.

A.W. Pink (1886-1952)
Evangelist and Biblical scholar

____________

There's no such thing as defeat.

There's always another chance. To believe in defeat
is to believe that there is something, a certain
point in time that did not come from the Above.

Know that G-d doesn't have failures. If things appear
to worsen, it is only as part of them getting better.
we only fall down in order to bounce back even higher.

The Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902-1994)
Final Rebbe of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement
Words and condensation by Tzvi Freeman

O most Glorious and Blessed God, I present myself and this work
into Your hands. Do with it as You will. Guide my thoughts. Hold
my hands, that You alone are writing (painting, carving) through
me, producing whatever You wish me to say. And now, O my
Beloved and my Joy, I prostrate myself into You most loving
embrace in thanks that You give me talent, inspiration,
discipline to do Your work. Amen. So be it.

Sophy Burnham

Excerpted from "The Path of Prayer,"
by Sophy Burnham
Penguin Putnam, 2002

Although I am planning and doing things in the world,
it is only to please the Lord. I test myself: even when
I am working I whisper within, "Where are You, Lord?"
and the whole world changes. There is nothing but a great
Light, and I am a little bubble in that Ocean of Light.
Such is the joy of existence in God.

Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952)
Indian yogi and guru
From "Man's Eternal Quest"

Use what talents you possess;
the woods be very silent if no birds sang there
except those that sang best.

Henry Van Dyke (1852-1933)
American author and Presbyterian clergyman

_____________

If I'm going to sing like someone else,
then I don't need to sing at all.

Billie Holiday (1915-1959)
Leading American jazz singer

____________

When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced;
live your life so that when you die,
the world cries and you rejoice.

Cherokee saying

____________

Everyone can be great,
because everyone can serve.

Martin Luther King
(1929-1968)
Baptist minister and leader of
the American Civil Rights movement

And now, the Last Word:

Remember that nothing is small
in the eyes of God. Do all that
you do with love.

St. Therese de Lisieux (1873-1897)
Also known as "The Little Flower of Jesus"
