Book of Psalms, Book of Samuel, Book of Isaiah

Dear Readers,

As the Bible says, God is our stronghold in times
of trouble. Sometimes, my first prayer of the day
is, "Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble."

The Bible assures us over and over that the Lord
protects those who love him. Even if we must
"walk through the valley of the shadow of death,"
we don't have to be afraid, because He is with us.
And there is no mightier power than He.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains:
from whence shall my help come?
My help cometh from Hashem, who made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved;
He that keep thee will not slumber.
Behold, He that keepeth Israel doth neither
slumber nor sleep.
Hashem is thy keeper; Hashem is thy shade
upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day,
nor the moon by night.
Hashem shall keep thee from all evil;
He shall keep thy soul
Hashem shall guard thy going out and thy coming in,
from this time forth and forever.

Psalm 121
Jewish Publication Society, 1917

The Lord is my protector; he is my strong fortress.
My God is my protection, and with him I am safe.
He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe.
He is my savior; he protects me and saves me from violence.
I call to the Lord, and he saves me from my enemies.
Praise the Lord!
The waves of death were all around me
the waves of destruction rolled over me.
The danger of death was around me,
and the grave set its trap for me.
In my trouble I called to the Lord;
I called to my God for help.
In his temple he heard my voice;
he listened to my cry for help.

2 Samuel:2-7
The Holy Bible
The Good News Translation

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High,
who abides in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust." ...

Because you have made the Lord your refuge,
the Most High your habitation,
no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

For he will give his angels charge of you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

Because he cleaves to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

Psalm 91:1-2, 9-11, 14-16
The Holy Bible
Revised Standard Edition

The Last Word:

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in you.
