God of our life,
there are days when the burdens we carry
chafe our shoulders and weigh us down;
when the road seems dreary and endless,
the skies gray and threatening;
when our lives have no music in them,
and our hearts are lonely,
and our souls have lost their courage/
Flood the path with light,
run our eyes to where
the skies are full of promise;
tune our hearts to brave music;
give us the sense of comradeship
with heroes and saints of every age;
and so quicken our spirits
that we may be able to encourage
the souls of all who journey with us
on the road of life, to your honor and glory.
St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430)
One of the most important influences
on Western Christianity
I believe in the sun
when it is not shining.
I believe in love even when
feeling it not.
I believe in God even when
he is silent.
When they came to the disciples, they
saw a large crowd around them and scribes
arguing with them.
(Jesus) asked them, "What are you arguing
about with them?" Someone from the crowd
answered him, "Teacher, I have brought to
you my son possessed by a mute spirit.
When it seizes him, it throws him down;
he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth
and becomes rigid...if you can do any-

Jesus said to him, "'If you can!'
Everything is possible to one who
has faith." Then the boy's father
cried out, "I do believe, help my
Mark 9: 14, 16-18, 22-24
New American Bible
When we believe that we are not worthy of having
what we want, we doubt that we can or will receive it.
Doubt is also the mental and emotional response to
our need to be in control. To be in control we must
know everything about everything...Wory is the direct
descendant of the need to be in control...
Constant prayer and affirmation are the strongest
defenses against doubt. Praying for guidance and
believing that we have received it will bring our actions
into alignment with Divine Will.

O God, early in the morning I cry to you,
Help me to pray
And to concentrate my thoughts on you:
I cannot do this alone...
I do not understand your ways,
But you know the way for me...
Restore me to liberty,
And enable me so to live now
That I may answer before you and before me.
Lord, whatever this day may bring,
Your name be praised.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)
German Lutheran pastor and theologian;
founding member of the Confessing Church
And now the Last Word:
LET ME REMEMBER
God is in control.
Where there is trust there is no DOUBT.
Truth is more powerful than DOUBT...
If the doors of perception were cleansed,
everything would appear to man as it is,
