Welcome To The Religion Network!

I'm Lisa Bowman, editor of The Religion Network, a multi-faith Web site. This site provides inspirational quotes through an
exploration of a new spiritual theme every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Religion network is offered with the
conviction that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and furthermore, that finding the commonalities
among the world's religions is more healing than pointing up their differences.

Religion as an institution is a precious gift, blessing individuals and uplifting communities. However you choose to
worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.

Dear Readers,

Whenever we refer to someone as a "gentle giant," it is inevitably with a tone of tender
respect. We simply admire those who combine strength with gentleness, because so
many who have power be it physical or via social status, misuse and abuse that power.

Yet the real reason we respond to this duet of strength and gentleness is because
it expresses God's nature; in a person it mirrors His nature, so we revel in it. The
grace of gentleness creates room in the human soul for humility; strength born
of this gentleness is blessed and divinely imbued with a bold energy
capable of changing earth and lifting human hearts.

- Lisa

I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize. The first is gentleness;
the second is frugality; the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself
before others.Be gentle and you can be bold; be frugal and you can be liberal;
avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader among men.

Lao-Tzu (600 BC - 531 BC)
Ancient Chinese philosopher;
Author of "Tao Te Ching"

Nothing is so strong as gentleness,
nothing so gentle as real strength.

St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622)

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are
spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering
yourself lest you also be tempted...And let us not grow weary
while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we
do not lose heart.

Galations 6:1, 9
The Holy Bible

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such
things there is no law. And those who are Christ's have
crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we
live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Galations 5:22-25
The Holy Bible

O gentle presence, peace and joy and power;

Keep Thou my child on upward wing tonight.
