Welcome To The Religion Network!

I'm Lisa Bowman, editor of The Religion Network, a multi-faith Web site. This site provides inspirational quotes through an
exploration of a new spiritual theme every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Religion network is offered with the
conviction that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and furthermore, that finding the commonalities
among the world's religions is more healing than pointing up their differences.

Religion as an institution is a precious gift, blessing individuals and uplifting communities. However you choose to
worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.

Dear Readers,

If there is one God, and He made all that is, then everything
is One and One is everything; all is in Him and He is found
in everything. The universe truly is contained in a drop of
rain. A rainbow is essential to the desert fox. We are inter-
connected; what we have in common is the Uncommon.

If you are a poet, you will see clearly that there
is a cloud floating in(a)sheet of paper. Without a
cloud, there will be no rain, the trees cannot grow;
and without trees, we cannot make paper. The cloud
is essential for the paper to exist. So we can say
that the cloud and the paper inter-are...

If we look into this sheet of paper even more deeply,
we can see the sunshine in it. If the sunshine is not
there, the forest cannot grow...and if we continue
to look, we can see the logger who cut the tree and
brought it to the mill to be transformed into paper
And we see the wheat,...his daily bread. And the
logger's father and mother are in it, too...
We see that without all of these things,
this sheet of paper cannot exist...
As thin as this sheet of paper is,
it contains everything in the
universe in it.

Thich Nhat Hanh (1926-  )

Everything in the universe is energy
or a manifestation of energy, and the
purpose of spiritual work is to become
one with that flow of higher creative
energy coming from God
through the cosmos.

You must teach your children that the ground beneath
their feet is the ashes of your grandfathers. So that they
will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is
rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what
we have taught our children, that earth is our mother.
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth.
If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.

Chief Seattle (c. 1786 - 1866)

I see God in every human being. When I wash
the leper's wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord
himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?

The quietude of the forest,
like a grand cathedral,
welcomes me.
Every leaf is divinity;
every tree holds
a moment of eternity.

The Last Word:

Everything is linked with everything
else; as divine essence is below as
well as above, in heaven and on
earth. There is nothing else.

Moses de Leon (d. 1305)
Spanish Jewish mystic

Random Bonus Quote:

When we are weak, we can still be strong.
When we're under the greatest stress and
facing the greatest challenges, it may be
the best day of our lives, for God is working
to make us into the people he wants us to be.
