|Welcome To The Religion Network!
I'm Lisa Bowman. The Religion Network is an interfaith web site providing inspiration, quotes and religious resources. This Home Page is changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You are warmly
invited to read every quote posted for each theme, or simply to read those that interest you. They are
offered in the belief that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and that finding the commonality
in religions is more important than pointing up the differences. Religion is precious gift that blesses the
individual and uplifts the community. However you worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. Let
us meet regularly and build a spiritual network. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall on me,"
Even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day.
Psalm 139: 7-12
The Holy Bible
New King James Version
We are connected,
My child and I, by
An invisible cord
Not seen by the eye.
It's not like the cord
That connects us 'till birth
This cord can't be seen
By any on Earth.
This cord does its work
Right from the start.
It binds us together
Attached to my heart.
I know that it's there
Though no one can see
The invisible cord
From my child to me.
The strength of this cord
is hard to describe;
It can't be destroyed.
It can't be denied.
It's stronger than any cord
Man could create
It withstands the test
Can hold any weight.
And though you are gone,
Though you're not here with me,
The cord is still there
But no one can see.
It pulls at my heart.
I am bruised...I am sore.
But this cord is my lifeline
As never before.
I am thankful that God
Connects us this way
A mother and child
Death can't take it away!
There probably is no greater suffering than losing
a child, since it so radically interferes with the
desire of a father and mother to see their child grow
up to be a beautiful, healthy, mature, and loving per-
son...It requires an enormous act of faith on the part
of parents to truly believe that their children, however
brief their lives, were given to them as gifts from God,
to deepen and enrich their lives.
Whenever parents can make that leap of faith, their
children's short lives can become fruitful far
beyond their expectations.
Excerpted from "The Dance of Life,"
by Henri J. M. Nouwen

The sun slowly rises over the valley draped
in darkness where I now dwell,
bringing joy into my spirit
as a sign from heaven saying, "All is well."
If I had given up hope yesterday,
when all I felt was sorrow, loss and pain,
I would have never seen the answer to my prayers,
or smelled the fragrance after the rain.
"Patience" by Kate Buxbaum Prado
As high as the heavens over the earth, so are My ways
higher than your ways, and My thoughts higher than
your thoughts. For just as the rain and snow descend
from heaven and will not return there, rather it waters
the earth and causes it to produce and sprout, and gives
seed to the sower and food to the eater, so shall be My
word that emanates from my mouth, and it will not
return to Me unfulfilled unless it will have accom-
plished what I desired and brought success
where I sent it.
Isaiah 55: 9-11

This Little Light of Mine
God lent me a child
For me to love and to care for.
He couldn't promise he would stay
Since all from earth return.
Joshua gave me so much joy
And I wanted to hide him from the world and all its pain
showed him only laughter,
The beauty of butterflies,
The wonder of God's sunrise and of that same sun setting...
...I think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.
I give him back to you, O Lord,
Who first gave him to me,
In heaven with Jesus, again we shall meet.
This Little Light of Mine, I'm going to let it shine...

And now, the Last Word:
The rest of God is a deep rest of the
heart that can endure even as we are
surrounded by the forces of death...
It is the rest that allows us to live on
with a peaceful and joyful heart even
things are not getting better, even when
painful situations are not resolved...

nor burned by fire, nor rotted by water, nor
weathered away by wind.
