    Grant that I may not pray alone with the mouth;
    help me that I may pray from the depths of my heart.
    --Martin Luther

           I'm Lisa Bowman. The Religion Network
    is an interfaith website. Faith is a precious
    gift that blesses both the individual and our
    society. However you worship, I hope this
    site enhances your journey.
           Please check in daily for a moment or
    two of inspiration. Become part of the
    community by contributing a prayer or a
    story of your faith journey. Let us meet
    here regularly and build a spiritual network.

    What's new on the site:
    There are two major additions
    to The Religion Network!

    1. The Speakpage
    The Speakpage is a message board,
    for comments, stories and even
    questions. Topics will be thrown out
    for discussion.
    The current question is:
    Do you think you've ever been
    'touched' by an angel?'

    2. Archives
    By popular demand, you can now go
    back in time and visit (or revisit)
    past home pages. They are listed
    by date and general topic.

    An important invitation to you:

    The Religion Network is a community.
    We'd like for you to share your faith
    stories, so that we can draw strength
    and inspiration from each other.
    Please send your pieces
    of 500 words or less to:

                                                    Make Me Brave for Life

    God, make me brave for life;
    oh braver than this.
    Let me straighten after pain;
    as a tree straightens after the rain,
    Shining and lovely again.
    God, make me brave for life;
    much braver than this.
    As the blown grass lifts, let me rise
    From sorrow with quiet eyes,
    Knowing Thy way is wise.
    God, make me brave; life brings
    Such blinding things.
    Help me to keep my sight;
    Help me to see aright
    that out of darkness comes light.

    And now, the Last Word:
    The Johnny Appleseed Blessing

    Oh, the Lord is good to me,
    And so I thank the Lord
    For giving me the things I need
    The sun, and the rain, and the apple seed.
    The Lord is good to me.

    --Johhny Appleseed (1774-1847)
    A Swedenborgian missionary, he planted apple trees
    in large portions of Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
Giovanni Amadeo, c. 1470

       Grandfather, Great Spirit,
      you have been always,

     And before you nothing has been.

    There is no one to pray to but you.

    The star nations all over the heavens
    are   yours,

     And yours are the grasses of the earth.

     Grandfather, Great Spirit,
     fill us with the light.

     Teach us to walk the soft earth as relatives

      to all that live.

     Help us, for without you we are nothing.

                  Black Elk (1863-1950)
