Dear Readers,

Life tends to test the strength of our perseverance. But is the willingness
to bang one's head against the wall until it crumbles the same thing as
steadfast persistence? I submit that it's not, and furthermore, that true
persistence is based on the conviction that the law of Truth, better known
as God, upholds the efforts of the righteous person. Steadfastness is
a spiritual grace; this persistence is motivated by a selfless love. It is
deep trust in God that keeps the heart strong and fearless.

I grew up in the '40s and I heard all these great speeches,
like Winston Churchill. His most famous, or most infamous
commencement exercise speech was one that consisted
of seven words. He stood before this graduating class
and said: "Never, never, never, never, never give up."

Johnny Cash
Country singer and songwriter

________

Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who finds great delight in his commands.
Surely he will never be shaken;
a righteous man will be remembered forever.
He will have no fear of bad news;
his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is secure, he will have no fear;
in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.

The Holy Bible
New International Version

...Rather than following the lessons they've discerned from
past experience, some people, and even nations, become
trapped by them. The past should not determine the future;
wisdom culled from our experiences should guide the
present and future course in a spirit of continuity...

New World Library, 2004

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind
