|Welcome To The Religion Network!
I'm Lisa Bowman. The Religion Network is an interfaith web site providing inspiration, quotes and religious resources. This Home Page is changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You are warmly
invited to read every quote posted for each theme, or simply to read those that interest you. They are
offered in the belief that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and that finding the commonality
in religions is more important than pointing up the differences. Religion is precious gift that blesses the
individual and uplifts the community. However you worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. Let
us meet regularly and build a spiritual network. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.
|On Today's Theme:
Feeling giddy is encouraged today, for we have been given an unmarked slate
upon which to write! Those mistakes we made yesterday are erased, and now exist
only for us to learn from. Today we are free to draw a work of art instead.
So pick up the
chalk of today with a sense of delight; seeing everything for the first time, smelling
flowers as if you'd never sniffed them before and touching the earth with reverence.
You are new. You are fresh. Be delighted.
Krishna passed that mountain many times;
and yet his followers observed that day
that all his mind was filled with fresh delight
as if he'd never walked, nor seen, that way;
The beauty of the mountain ever new,
the moment of its sight, the world reborn;
the mind surprised by what it always knew:
the beauty past all beauty's name and form.
This is true beauty, in ourself revealed:
a sight that's ever fresh, yet ever known;
which eye sees pure, yet mind too oft
conceals: God's unity, in beauty seen;
The moment's grace of beauty, ours all day;
from outward eye the sight of inward Way.

My root is spread out to the waters,
And the dew lies all night on my branch.
My glory is fresh within me,
And my bow is renewed in my hand.

Give Us This Day
Today you've given me sunshine, Lord
with washing winds to cleanse the air,
the many-voiced mocking bird
sings songs he needs to share.
A brave, determined ant
carried a crumb
twice his size,
hurrying past my patient feet
to colonize his prize.
A black and orange monarch
above a quenching brook:
Lord, you've given me another day--

God is not interested in your past history, but in what you are now.
Now is the day of salvation.
Where you stand today does not matter; it is the direction in which
you are moving, and the rate at which you travel, that count.

And now, the Last Word:
As I take my first step,
My foot kisses the floor.
With gratitude to the earth,
I walk in liberation.
