Almighty God, we bless thee and praise
Thee that we have awakened to the light
of another day; and now we will think of
what a day should be. Our days are
Thine, let them be spend for Thee. Our
days are few, let them be spent with care.
We pray Thee to shine on this day -- the
day which we may call our own. Lord,
we go to our daily work; help us to take
pleasure therein. Show us clearly what
our duty is; help us to be faithful in doing
it. Let all we do be well done, fit for
Thine eye to see. Give us strength to do,
patience to bear; let our courage never
fail. When we cannot love our work, let
us think of it as Thy task; and by our
true love to Thee, make unlovely things
shine in the light of Thy great love.
Amen.

George Dawson (1821-1876)
English nonconformist divine

In a rush, in confusion, no one can serve his purpose
upon this earth. Human purpose is an exquisite balance
of heaven and earth, requiring feet firmly upon the
ground and a clear head up in the air.

In a rush, the world is in control of you.
Slow down and take control of your world.

Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902-1994)
Prominent Charedi (traditional Orthodox) Jewish rabbi.

_____________

Everything has its season,
and there is a time for everything
under the heaven:
A time to be born
and a time to die;

a time to plant
and a time to uproot the planted.

A time to kill
and a time to heal;

a time to wreck
and a time to build;

A time to weep
and a time to laugh...

I have observed the task
which God has given the sons of man
to be concerned with; He made everything
beautiful in its time; He has also put
an enigma into their minds so that man
cannot comprehend what God has done from
beginning to end.

I realized that whatever God does
will endure forever; Nothing can be
added to it and nothing can be
subtracted from it, and God has acted
so that (man) should stand in awe of Him.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4, 10, 14

_____________

Know that the purpose for which each soul enters a material experience
is that it may be as a light unto others; not as one boastful of self
or of self's abilities in any phase of the experience,
whether mental or material, but living being in spirit
that which is ideal and not idealistic alone, nor the unattainable...

Thus -- in that consciousness of daily living and being that which is
in keeping with the ideal -- life and its problems become not
a burden, but opportunities -- for the greater expressions
and expansions of self in knowing that as ye sow daily
the fruit of the spirit, ye need not worry nor fret thyself
as to its growth. God giveth the increase...

Edgar Cayce (1877-1945)
American psychic , devout member of Disciples of Christ

___________

"Be still, and know that I am God."
(Psalm 46:10 NIV)

This verse contains a command with a promise.

The command? Be still. Cover your mouth. Bend your knees.

The promise? You will know that I am God.

The vessel of faith journeys on soft waters.
Belief rides on the wings of waiting.

And now the Last Word:

There are infinite worlds beyond the worlds of angels,
all full of divine light, beauty and oneness.

But know also that all this was brought into being with
a single purpose: G-d desires to be at home
within your mundane world.

Schneerson), rendered by Tzvi Freeman and courtesy of Chabad.org.

The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies;
probably because they are generally the same people.
