Welcome To The Religion Network!
I'm Lisa Bowman. The Religion Network is an interfaith web site providing inspiration, quotes and religious resources. Faith and religion are precious gifts that bless. However you worship, I hope this
site enhances your journey. Let us meet regularly and build a spiritual network. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.

I come before thee as one of thy many children.
See, I am small and weak, I need thy strength and wisdom.

Grant me to walk in beauty and that my eyes may ever behold
the crimson sunset. May my hands treat with respect the things
which thou hast hidden in every leaf and every rock.

I long for strength, not in order that I may overreach my brother
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.

Make me ever ready to come to thee with pure hands and candid
eyes, so that my spirit, when life disappears like the setting
sun, may stand unashamed before thee.

Sioux Prayer

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.
Only through experience of trial and suffering
can the soul be strengthened, ambition
inspired, and success achieved.

Helen Keller (1880-1968)
American educator; blind and deaf from birth

If God allows us to endure the consequences of our sin, and the
world is full of sinners, then the world is going to abound in evil...
After describing those who worship the creation rather than the
Creator, Paul says, "God left them and let them do the shameful
things they wanted to do" (Rom. 1:26).

Does God enjoy seeing the heartbreak and addictions of his children?
No more than a parent enjoys disciplining a child. But holy love
makes tough choices.

Remember, discipline should result in mercy, not misery. Some
saints are awakened by a tap on the shoulder, while others
need a two-by-four to the head...

It is only when you discard your bad habits that you
are really a free man. Until you are a true master, able
to command yourself to do the things that you should
do but may not want to do, you are not a free soul.
In that power of self-control lies the
seed of spiritual freedom.

Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952)
Founder of Self-Realization Fellowship

Do you not know that the runners in the stadium
all run in the race, but only one wins the prize?
Run so as to win. Every athlete exercises
discipline in every way. They do it to win
a perishable crown, but we
an imperishable one.

1 Corinthians 9: 24-25
New American Bible

And now, the Last Word:

O Lord, I pray that your children may come
to feel your presence and be immersed in
your deep, warm, affective love. And to me,
O Lord, your stumbling friend,
show your mercy, Amen.
