Bonus quote: The quieter the mind, the more powerful, the
worthier, the deeper, the more telling and more perfect the
prayer is. To the quiet mind all things are possible.

Meister Eckhart (1260-1327)

You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst,
You shall wander far in safety though do not know the way.
You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand.
You shall see the face of God and live.

Be not afraid. I go before you always.
Come follow me, and I will give you rest.

If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.
If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed.
If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side,
know that I am with you through it all.

Be not afraid. I go before you always.
Come follow me, and I will give you rest.

Blessed are your poor, for the kingdom shall be theirs.
Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh.
And if wicked tongues insult and hate you all because of me,
blessed, blessed are you!

Be not afraid. I go before you always.
Come follow me, and I will give you rest.

Through the transparency of my deepest meditation I will receive the light of the
Father passing through me. I will be a son of God, even as Jesus was, by
receiving God fully through my meditation-expanded soul consciousness. I will
follow the shepherds of faith, devotion, and meditation, who will lead me through
the star of inner wisdom to the omnipresent Christ.

Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952)

                      "Virgin and Child"

    Christmas

O Father, may that Holy Star
    Grow every year more bright,
And send its glorious beams afar
To fill the world with light.

    William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878)
    American poet and journalist
When he was born into a carpenter's family, He was the Son of Man. When He
opened His heart, the door of Heaven was opened to Him. The Holy Spirit
descended on Him like a dove, and He was manifested as the Son of God --
very holy, very deep, and very great...Because God the Son is made of the
energy of the Holy Spirit, He is the door for us to enter the Kingdom of God.

Thich Nhat Hanh (1926-   )
Vietnamese Buddhist monk, teacher, activist, Nobel Peace Prize nominee
From "Essential Writings"
Orbis Books, 2004

“I am not alone at all, I thought. I was never alone at
all. And that, of course, is the message of Christmas.
We are never alone. Not when the night is darkest,
the wind coldest, the world seemingly most
indifferent. For this is still the time God chooses.”

Taylor Caldwell (1900-1985)
American novelist
