Bonus quote: The quieter the mind, the more powerful, the
worthier, the deeper, the more telling and more perfect the
prayer is. To the quiet mind all things are possible.

I will prepare for the coming of the Omnipresent Baby Christ by cleaning the cradle of my
consciousness, now rusty with selfishness, indifference, and sense attachments; and by
polishing it with deep, daily, divine meditation, introspection, and discrimination. I will
remodel the cradle with the dazzling soul-qualities of brotherly love, humbleness, faith,
desire for God-realization, will power, self-control, renunciation, and unselfishness, that
I may fittingly celebrate the birth of the Divine Child.

Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952)
Founder of the Self Realization Fellowship
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the
Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made
low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it
together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule
for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his
arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with
young.

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from
God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin
betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the
house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And he came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the
Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the
saying, and considered in her mind what sort of
greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do
not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with
God. And behold you will conceive in your womb and
bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.
He will be great, and will be called the Son
                   of the most High;
and the Lord God will give to him the
                   throne of his father David,
and he will reign over the house of Jacob for
                   ever;
and of his kingdom there will be no end."

And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according
to your word."And the angel departed from her.

Luke’s Gospel account of the Christmas event is full
of activity…And yet, in the middle of the frenetic
action, here is this woman wrapped in mystical
silence…She demonstrates the necessity of a quiet
place within ourselves at Christmastime—that place
where we are most ourselves in relation to God.

It is a place of silence, not because it is untouched
by all the activity of our lives, but because it is
capable of wonder. Every prayer begins with silent
wonder before it turns to words. Our first response
to God is dumbstruck awe at who he is and what he
has done for us.

WARNING……WARNING: ADVENT VIRUS

Be on the alert for symptoms of inner Hope, Peace, Joy and
Love. The hearts of a great many have already been exposed
to this virus and it is possible that people everywhere could
come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose a
serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable
condition of conflict in the world.

Some signs and symptoms of The Advent Virus:

A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on
fears based on past experiences.
An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
A loss of interest in judging other people.
A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
A loss of interest in conflict.
A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious symptom.)
Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.
Frequent attacks of smiling.
An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than
make them happen.
An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as
well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.
Please send this warning out to all your friends. This virus
can and has affected many systems. Some systems have
been completely cleaned out because of it.
