Dear Readers,

Think about the word "rejoice." If joy is a glad, happy feeling and/or the
expression of said feeling, then "rejoice" must mean to feel and express
joy again and again! As He rejoices in us, over and over for all eternity,
so we can re-re-rejoice re-re-repeatedly, again, always and forever!

This cup, this cup,
this cup of life,
It's always overflowing;
We give and get
And get and give,
Life's balance
Keeps on going.
Take this cup,
I've filled it up,
With love and joy and laughter.
Now it's empty,
Fill it up.
Forever, after.

by Laura Byrnes
"Bless the Day" by June Cotner
Kodansha International, 1998

Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Psalm 32:11
The Holy Bible
English Standard Version

...Just as parents delight in the laughter of their children,
so I delight in hearing My children laugh. I rejoice when
you trust Me enough to enjoy your life light-heartedly.

Excerpted from "Jesus Calling,"
by Sarah Young
Integrity Publishing, 2004

Rejoice and be glad!
Blessed are you,
holy are you!
Rejoice and be glad!
Yours is the kingdom of God!

Chorus of the hymn, "Blest Are They,"
by David Haas
GIA Publications, 1985

Sayings of the Hasidim

When a man has fulfilled the whole Torah and
all the commandments but has not had the bliss
and ardor, when he dies and crosses over, they
open paradise for him, but because he did
not feel bliss in the world, he does
not feel the bliss of paradise.

From "Ecstatic Confessions,"
by Martin Buber
Harper & Row, 1985

After (Brother Lawrence) received the last Sacraments,
a brother asked him if he were easy and what his mind
was busied with. This was the reply: "I am doing what
I shall do, through all eternity--blessing God,
praising God, adoring God, giving Him
the love of my whole heart..."

From "The Practice of the Presence of God,"
The words of Brother Lawrence (c. 1614-1691),
a lay brother of Paris' Carmelite monks

The Last Word:

The laughter of the infinite God
must vibrate through your smile.
Let the breeze of His love spread
your smiles in the hearts of men.
Their fire will be contagious.

Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952)
Indian yogi and guru
