Welcome To The Religion Network!
I'm Lisa Bowman. The Religion Network is an interfaith web site providing inspiration, quotes and religious resources. This Home Page is changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You are warmly
invited to read every quote posted for each theme, or simply to read those that interest you. They are
offered in the belief that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and that finding the commonality
in religions is more important than pointing up the differences. Religion is precious gift that blesses the
individual and uplifts the community. However you worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. Let
us meet regularly and build a spiritual network. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.

On Today's Theme:

Often when we call someone "good," it has a banal ring to it. It's vague and
sounds nearly like a left-handed compliment.
After all, the definition of "good"
includes words like "competent," "beneficial," and "positive." All very nice words,
but leaning towards the lame, don't you think? On the other hand, when we speak of
God as "good," the word becomes imbued with power! His kindness shakes the very
foundations of evil. The benefits of His love shape our every breath and guide each of
our footsteps. All we have to do is to ask for His goodness and he will lead us in the
"paths of righteousness." For surely His "goodness and mercy" shall both follow and
lead us all the days of our lives. Because He promises us all this, we can walk with
confidence and without anxiety as we go about our daily business today.
God is Good and He directs us along only "Good," or Godly paths.
He will not lead us astray.

-Lisa Bowman

Know that along with every blade of grass and every speeding electron,
so too your own thoughts and decisions are directed with the same wondrous
meaning and purpose by the One who created and directs all things. You only
need to decide to do the right thing and His holy hand guides you on that path.

This is what confidence in the Director of the world is all about: A conviction
that since He is the essence of good, therefore all things are for the good -
the obvious good.

If so, what on earth are you worried or confused about? Even when your own
mind determines what to do and how–-even then He is there.

I thought of God as coming behind me with a dust pan,
but instead, He goes ahead and sweeps a path.

Rosemary Liebich

You are holy, Lord, the only God,
and Your deeds are wonderful.
You are strong.
You are great.
You are the Most High.
You are Almighty.
You, Holy Father are King of heaven and earth.
You are Three and One, Lord God, all Good.
You are Good, all Good, supreme Good,
Lord God, living and true.
You are love. You are wisdom.
You are humility. You are endurance.
You are rest. You are peace.
You are joy and gladness.
You are justice and moderation.
You are all our riches, and You suffice for us.
You are beauty.
You are gentleness.
You are our protector.
You are our guardian and defender.
You are our courage. You are our haven and our hope.
You are our faith, our great consolation.
You are our eternal life, Great and Wonderful Lord,
God Almighty, Merciful Saviour.

St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226)
Founder of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans)

And now, the Last Word:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life: and I will dwell
in the house of the Lord for ever.

Being defeated is often only a temporary condition.
Giving up is what makes it permanent.
