Welcome To The Religion Network!

I'm Lisa Bowman, editor of The Religion Network, a multi-faith Web site. This site provides inspirational quotes through an
exploration of a new spiritual theme every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Religion network is offered with the
conviction that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and furthermore, that finding the commonalities
among the world's religions is more healing than pointing up their differences.

Religion as an institution is a precious gift, blessing individuals and uplifting communities. However you choose to
worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.

Shepherd, show me how to go
O'er the hillside steep,
How to gather, how to sow, ---
How to feed Thy sheep;
I will listen for Thy voice,
Lest my footsteps stray.
I will follow and rejoice
All the rugged way.

So when day grow dark and cold,
Tear or triumph harms.
Lead thy lambkins to the fold,
Take them in Thine arms;
Feed the hungry, heal the heart,
Till the morning's beam;
White as wool, ere they depart,
Shepherd, wash them clean.

Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910)
Founder the Church of Christ, Scientist,
better known as Christian Science

___________

Behold, the Lord God will come with a strong hand,
and his arm shall rule for him:
behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd:
he shall gather the lambs with his arm,
and carry them in his bosom
and he shall gently lead those that are with young.

Isaiah 40:10-11
King James Bible

_________

For he hears the lamb's innocent call.
And he hears the ewe's tender reply.
He is watchful while they are in peace.
For they know when their Shepherd is nigh.

William Blake (1757-1827)
English mystic, poet, painter and engraver

I will save my sheep so that they may no longer be despoiled,
and I will judge between one sheep and another.
I will appoint one shepherd over them to pasture them,
my servant, David; he shall pasture them and be their shepherd.
Thus shall they know that I, the Lord, am their God, and they are my people,
the house of Israel, says the Lord God.

Ezekiel 34: 22,23,30
New American Bible

___________

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside still waters,
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

The 23rd Psalm
King James Version

__________

I am the good shepherd, and I know mine
and mine know me, just as the Father
knows me and I know the Father; and
I will lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that do not belong
to this fold. These also I must lead,
and they will hear my voice, and
there will be one flock, one shepherd.
This is why the Father loves me, because
I lay down my life in order to take it up
again. No one takes it from me, but I
lay it down on my own. I have power to
lay it down, and power to take it up again.
This command I have received from my Father.

John 10: 14-18
New American Bible

___________

God of truth, be Thou alone my guide...

Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902)

Founder of of the Ramakrishna Order of Monks

The Last Word:

Since God offers to manage our affairs for us,
let us once and for all hand them over to his
infinite wisdom, in order to occupy ourselves
only with Himself and what belongs to Him.

Jean Pierre de Caussade (1675-1751)
A Jesuit priest, his teachings to the Visitation Sisters
in the French town of Nancy were carefully preserved
and finally published many years after his death.
