Welcome To The Religion Network!

I'm Lisa Bowman, editor of The Religion Network, a multi-faith Web site. We provide inspirational
quotes by exploring a new theme every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This site is offered in the
conviction that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and furthermore, that finding the
commonalities among the world's religions is more healing than pointing up their differences.

Religion as an institution is precious gift, blessing individuals and uplifting communities.
However you choose to worship, I hope this site enhances your journey.

Today's Theme:

What an honor it is to pray for someone else.
We should probably thank them for giving us
the opportunity to stop focusing on ourselves!

A prayer

I raise my heart up in grateful song, O Lord,
Today, I feel the bright sun and gentle winds.
I look upon yesterday as a gray cloud of despair
And the heaviness I felt in my heart for your people.
Your people who pray and see no end to their plight
Whether it be sickness, destruction or abuse
To their body or to their soul

But you remain steadfast and tell me to wait
Wait for tomorrow
Wait for the light
And the light did come
To fill the windows of my soul
With bright sun and gentle winds
With the soft kiss of a child
And the kind words of a friend.

I pray that you fill each one of your people
Who are seeing the gray cloud of despair
A glimpse of that bright sun and the touch of the gentle wind
Through the window of their soul so that they too
Can raise their heart up in grateful song to you, O Lord.

May I become at all times, both now and forever
A protector for those without protection
A guide for those who have lost their way
A ship for those with oceans to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter
And a servant to all in need.

Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama (1935-   )
Tibetan spiritual leader

I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold,
service was

Random Bonus Quote:

Time is but a sandy stream I go a'fishin' in.
I drink at it, but while I drink I see the sandy
bottom and detect how shallow it it. Its thin
current slides away, but eternity remains.
