---MISSION: To be peaceful

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

The anonymous wisdom of the Desiderata was found on a
tombstone in the seventeenth century. While its author is
unknown, it contains some of the wisest advice for those
wishing to live a life of fullness in meaning, direction, and
ultimate belonging. The line above represents only a fraction
of the teaching of this unusual document, yet it sums up a basic
strategy for a happy life: Don't get caught up in all the confusion,
excitement, noise, and business of human society...Let us develop
a spirit of quiet in all our interactions.

Excerpted from "The Mystic Hours," by Wayne Teasdale
New World Library, 2004
