Dear Readers,

Once again I've circled back to the subject of angels. Could it be a nudging
from my very own guardian angel? My impulse this time is to stress the
reality of angels. They're so easy to love, conceptually, but perhaps not so
easily embraced as real beings, created by and eternally connected to God
...and to accept the reality that we are each given our very own winged
messenger who whispers divine messages into our heart and daily
guides our way if we but ask God to send them to us.

Guardian Angel Protecting Children From Danger by Feti
"Guardian Angel Protecting Children From Demons"
by Domenico Feti

They take different forms at the bidding of their Master, God,
and thus reveal themselves to men and unveil the divine
mysteries to them...

...An angel then is an intelligent essence, in perpetual motion,
with freewill, incorporeal, ministering to God, having obtained
by grace an immortal nature; and the creator alone knows
the form and limitation of its nature.

Saint John of Damascus (ca. 676-749)
Arab Christian monk and priest; a polymath

Each has guardian angels before him and behind
him, who watch him by God's command.

The Koran
Islamic scripture

...(A)ngels appear as beings of great light. But they can appear
with wing like energy fields that we discern as wings. The
wings are an image that reflects the multidimensional levels
on which angels operate. It's a symbol of their ability to travel
through dimensions. But at their highest level they appear
as light. There is nothing but light.

Angels can look just like us, or they

We are like children, who stand in need of masters to
enlighten us and direct us; and God has provided for this,
by appointing his angels to be our teachers and guides.

St. Thomas Aquinas (ca. 1225-1274)
Italian Dominican priest, theologian, philosopher

The servants of Christ are protected by invisible,
rather than visible, beings. But if these guard you,
they do so because they have been summoned
by your prayers.

St. Ambrose (ca. 337-397)
Bishop of Milan

Angels descending, bring from above,
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

The Last Word:

When we do God's will and not our own --
that's when we most clearly understand
the language of the angels.
