Welcome To The Religion Network!
I'm Lisa Bowman, editor of The Religion Network, a multi-faith Web site. This site provides inspirational quotes through an
exploration of a new spiritual theme every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Religion network is offered with the
conviction that inspiration can be found in all spiritual faiths, and furthermore, that finding the commonalities
among the world's religions is more healing than pointing up their differences.
Religion as an institution is a precious gift, blessing individuals and uplifting communities. However you choose to
worship, I hope this site enhances your journey. If you'd like to know my story, click on biography.
Angels can make themselves understood in all sorts of ways; they speak all languages,
because their language is love. Sometimes they speak in our ear; sometimes they use a
feather of intuition to tickle our brains towards an idea or a creative solution. Other times
they nudge our soul's hunger towards all that is spiritual. God has granted to their unfettered
"beingness" boundless methods. They therefore never lack for original ways to appear and to
communicate, which is why we of ponderous mortality often fail to recognize them in our lives!
"Kneeling Angel" by Giovanni Antonia Amadeo
The angels are the dispensers and administrators of the Divine beneficence
toward us; they regard our safety, undertake our defense, direct our ways
and exercise a constant solicitude that no evil befall us.
John Calvin (1509-1564)
Influential French theologian whose Christian
theology forms the basis of Calvinism
Angels may appear with knowledge that keeps someone
from danger. They serve, in other words, as agents of
God's guidance in people's lives. They remind us that
God will not hesitate to communicate his will when we
must know it, even if it takes rending the skies or
stopping us in our daily rounds.

NOTE FROM LISA: We never know for sure the implications of an angelic visit. In this letter from Kathy G.
of the Los Angeles area, she describes not only angelic intervention, but the resulting healing of fear.
I heard an angelic voice in my ears as I spun around in a 360 degree turn after braking
on a wet street in Virginia. I'd tried to stop when a truck did a U-turn in front of me and my
brakes locked. As I started to spin it felt like slow motion. I am ashamed to say I screamed,
“Jesus, are you going to kill me?” And a calming voice came back quickly and clear as day...
”Put on the brakes again.” I did and found myself resting on a divider and with my car
into oncoming traffic. The car was hanging over the grassy divider. By the time I got out
of the car to see the damage, a driver stopped to help. He was a volunteer fireman coming
home from work. He said he would have to change the tire, which he did, then left.
I had his name, so I delivered a gift basket to his work the next day and never heard
from him again nor ever saw him. I always wonder if maybe he was an angel.
But it changed my life. I was debating about flying out to see my daughter in
Washington State when she had small children. Flying is not my favorite form of travel
because it is out of my control. But I realized that (ironically) I love to drive, but I had
already found that it, too, can be out of my control. I went home and booked a flight the
next day. I knew then that life can change in a moment and we do not know in which way.
I still love to drive, but do not hesitate to fly somewhere anymore. I just keep my rosary
at hand and a prayer to God’s angels to keep their wings under the plane and help guide
the pilots...and then I sing to myself…..it could be “O Sacred Heart of Jesus,”
or “My God, You’re an Awesome God.”
